London City Schools recently held its annual "Future Ready Day" event, aimed at preparing students for their future careers. The event kicked off with 3rd and 4th-grade students from the elementary school, who visited the High School Career Readiness Center to participate in various activities led by high school students. Known as "High Schoolers in the Hall", these activities included Tolles Firefighting, Broadcast Video, Robotics, and Tolles Culinary.
Middle school students also had their turn at the event with the "Life Fair", which allowed community members from London Fire, London Police, Realtors, and many more to showcase various career options to the students.
The day culminated in the highly anticipated "Senior Signing Day," where the graduating seniors announced if they will be enrolled, enlisted, or employed in their post-high school lives. This year's guest speaker was Dr. Frederic Bertley, the President & CEO of COSI (Center of Science and Industry), who gave a keynote speech to the students.
The "Future Ready Day" event is an excellent initiative by London City Schools, providing students with the opportunity to explore potential career paths, learn from industry professionals, and interact with high school students who are already pursuing their chosen career fields. It's a great way to ensure that students are well-prepared for their future careers and have a clear understanding of their options.
