In the Spring of 2019, the London City School District published its Portrait of a Graduate, highlighting the essential skills and attitudes necessary for district graduates to succeed in college and careers. Our district uses the Portrait of a Graduate to help design meaningful teaching and learning experiences for our students. In a similar way during the Spring of 2022, the London City School District worked to identify and publish the most valued skills and dispositions that educators should demonstrate on a daily basis to help prepare our students to be future-ready. These skills include:
Effective Communication,
Focused on Relationship-Building,
Being Flexible and Adaptable,
Demonstrating High Integrity; and,
Being a Role-Model for Life-Long Learning.
LHS teacher, Leigha Haller, was recognized during the May Regular Board of Education meeting for substantially demonstrating the district’s Portrait of an Educator. Congratulations Mrs. Haller!
Nominated by a Peer Teacher:
Leigha truly encompasses all of the attributes and skills of the district’s Portrait of an Educator. She is new to the district this year and has quickly established a positive rapport with students, meaningful communication with parents, and effective collaboration with staff members. She is a leader when it comes to inspiring students to be the best version of themselves. If a student has a hard time, she finds ways to reach them and keep them accountable for their behaviors and learning. She motivates students when they can't find their own motivation.
Nominated by Mr. Browning:
Mrs. Leigha Haller is an Intervention Specialist at London High School. Leigha is in her first year as a teacher at LHS and has quickly developed positive relationships with students, other teachers, and the parents of the students she serves. Many parents have commented on her preparedness and professionalism with the IEPs she writes and the accommodations she plans for the students. Leigha has both an Intervention Specialist certification and a 7-12 English certification which allows her to fully understand the content standards for the English classrooms she serves as well as teach our Yearbook course as an English elective. Her involvement with the LHS yearbook has allowed Leigha to reach more students and strengthen the yearbook staff. We anticipate twice as many participants next school year to be on the yearbook staff to write, edit, and take pictures for the Londonian.
Mrs. Haller is a treasured member of the London City Schools family and a positive influence in the community.
Students, parents, and fellow educators are encouraged to nominate outstanding London teachers, who significantly demonstrate the district’s Portrait of an Educator. Nominations can be made by filling out this nomination form.
