In a partnership with Jason Learning, LCS has chosen 8th grade student Colin Carn and Middle School Science teacher Logan Pollock as their next Argonauts for an expedition into Arizona's Madera Canyon. Guided by entomologists Kristie Reddick and Jessica Honaker, they will investigate desert biodiversity amidst climate change. Through hands-on research and communication training, Carn and Pollock will return with not only scientific insights but also the skills to effectively convey complex concepts, empowering them to enact change in their communities and beyond. Madera Canyon, located in the Santa Rita Mountains of southern Arizona, provides an ideal setting for this scientific adventure. As one of the most biodiverse areas in the United States, the canyon offers a wealth of opportunities to study the effects of climate change on desert ecosystems up close.
For Carn and Pollock, being chosen as London's next Argonauts is both a privilege and a responsibility. It's an opportunity to explore the wonders of the natural world, engage in meaningful scientific inquiry, and inspire others to join the fight against climate change.
As they prepare to embark on their journey into Madera Canyon, Colin Carn and Logan Pollock are ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Armed with curiosity, determination, and a passion for science, they are poised to make a difference in the world around them, one insect at a time.
