Project Overview

London City Schools (LCS) is seeking proposals from qualified contractors to provide concrete installation services for the areas under the seating at our baseball and softball fields. This project aims to enhance the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of the seating areas by replacing the existing surfaces with durable concrete. The selected vendor will be responsible for the preparation, installation, and finishing of the concrete, ensuring compliance with all relevant building codes and school district requirements.

District Overview

The London City School District educates approximately 2,300 students across a centralized campus located just north of downtown London, Ohio. The district covers 57 square miles, including the City of London, the community of Lake Choctaw, and portions of surrounding townships. London is a growing city of about 11,000 residents and serves as the county seat of Madison County. It is located at the western edge of the Columbus metropolitan area and is home to several large employers such as Stanley Electric, Nissen Chemitec America, and Madison Health.

Services Requested

The London City School District requires the following services:

Concrete Installation:

  • Site Preparation: Excavate and prepare the areas under the seating at the baseball and softball fields, ensuring a level and stable base for concrete installation.

  • Formwork: Design and install formwork to define the areas to be concreted, including any necessary expansion joints.

  • Concrete Pouring: Supply, mix, and pour concrete to the designated areas, ensuring a smooth and even finish.

  • Finishing: Apply appropriate finishing techniques to the concrete surface, including smoothing, texturing, or adding slip-resistant coatings as specified by the district.

  • Curing: Properly cure the concrete to achieve optimal strength and durability.

  • Cleanup: Remove all debris and construction materials from the site, leaving the area clean and ready for use.

Timeline

  • August 26th, 2024: Request for Proposal Released

  • August 26th - September 6th, 2024: Site Visits/ Walk-Throughs

  • September 13, 2024: Deadline for Proposals (5 pm)

  • September 16, 2024: Proposal opening

  • Week of September 23rd, 2024: Notification of Contract

  • October 1st, 2024: Project Start Date

Proposal Format

All proposals should be sealed and include a one-page summary of services, including company name, contact information, a summary of services, and total proposed cost.

Proposals should address the following components:

  • Concrete Installation Approach: Detailed plan for site preparation, concrete pouring, finishing, and curing.

  • Experience and References: Examples of previous projects of similar scope, especially within a school setting.

  • Cost Breakdown: Itemized costs for materials, labor, and any additional expenses.

  • Timeline: Proposed schedule for completing the project by October 31st, 2024.

Proposal Submittal Process

All proposals should be submitted electronically via email to District Treasurer, Ms. Kristine Blind at kristine.blind@london.k12.oh.us no later than 5 pm on Friday, September 13th, 2024.

Selection Criteria

Submitted proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability to meet/exceed requested requirements.

  • Cost-effectiveness and ability to stay within budget.

  • Ability to meet the requested timeline.

  • Experience working within a school setting or on similar projects.

  • Professional references and past performance.

The London City Schools Board of Education reserves the right to waive informalities, and to accept or reject any and all, or parts of any and all proposals.
