POE Honorees

In the Spring of 2019, the London City School District published its Portrait of a Graduate, which highlights the key skills and attitudes necessary for district graduates to have success in college and careers. Our district uses the Portrait of a Graduate to help design meaningful teaching and learning experiences for our students. In a similar way during the Spring of 2022, the London City School District worked to identify and publish the most valued skills and dispositions that educators should demonstrate daily to help prepare our students to be future-ready. These skills include:

  • Effective Communication,

  • Focused on Relationship-Building,

  • Being Flexible and Adaptable,

  • Demonstrating High Integrity; and,

  • Being a role model for Life-Long Learning.

Mrs. Parks and Mrs. Sharrock were recognized during the December Regular Board of Education meeting for substantially demonstrating the district’s Portrait of an Educator. Congratulations to both of these outstanding educators!

Wendy Parks

Mrs. Wendy Parks, a Kindergarten teacher at London City School District, exemplifies the district’s Portrait of an Educator skills through her passion, dedication, and unwavering positivity. Her classroom is a vibrant space where young learners feel encouraged, supported, and excited to discover new things. If you are walking past her room you are sure to see her singing a song or dancing with her kiddos.  Mrs. Parks excels in effective communication, using clear and engaging strategies to connect with her students and their families. Her ability to share information in ways that are both accessible and meaningful helps build a strong partnership with parents, ensuring everyone feels invested in the children’s success.

As a relationship-builder, Mrs. Parks creates a welcoming environment that fosters trust and collaboration. She takes the time to understand each child’s unique needs, interests, and strengths, making every student feel valued and celebrated. Her flexibility and adaptability shine as she seamlessly adjusts her teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles, ensuring every child has the tools they need to thrive. Mrs. Parks models integrity in all she does, showing fairness, respect, and kindness, which leaves a lasting impression on her students and colleagues alike.

Mrs. Wendy Parks goes beyond her role as a Kindergarten teacher by uplifting the entire school community. Recognizing the importance of positivity and connection among staff, she initiated a Staff Sunshine Committee to boost morale and foster a sense of fellowship. Through thoughtful gestures like organizing appreciation events, celebrating milestones, and coordinating small acts of kindness, Mrs. Parks has created a culture of support and joy within the building. Her efforts have strengthened relationships among colleagues and infused the school with a renewed sense of energy and teamwork, making it a more vibrant and welcoming place for everyone.

Tina Sharrock

While she could be enjoying her well-deserved retirement, Tina Sharrock has graciously stepped up not once, but twice, to support London City Schools as an interim Transportation Supervisor. Tina's dedication extends far beyond administrative duties; she is a constant advocate for student safety and well-being. Nearly every student who rides a bus knows her, as she makes it a point to connect with the students she serves.

Tina was instrumental in bringing Buster the Bus to London Elementary School, a beloved program that teaches students the importance of school bus safety engagingly and memorably. In addition to coordinating daily transportation operations with precision, Tina fosters a sense of community and care, ensuring every student arrives at school and back home safely. Her willingness to step into this critical role for a second time demonstrates her unwavering commitment to supporting all students and the London City Schools community.
