The London City School District has partnered with the Madison Champaign County Educational Service Center (ESC) and Madison County Developmental Disabilities since 2020 to operate a joint early childhood educational program at Fairhaven School. For the 2025-2026 school year, the leadership of the Preschool Program will transition back to the London City School District from the ESC to enhance educational outcomes and to be more cost-effective. The district will continue to partner with Madison County Developmental Disabilities and house the Preschool at Fairhaven School.
The district’s Preschool Program is dedicated to providing developmentally appropriate social and academic experiences across multiple domains, including adaptive, cognitive, sensory-motor, communication, and social-emotional development. The program is designed to support all children, including those with disabilities, through the use of specialized materials and curricula that promote active learning, independence, and positive character development. Inclusion remains a core value, with typically developing peers serving as role models in a collaborative and enriching environment.
New for the 2025-2026 school year:
Program Options: The Preschool Program will offer both a half-day program (4 classrooms) and a full-day program (2 classrooms).
Eligibility for Full-Day Program: A rubric will be used to determine eligibility for full-day placement, prioritizing students with significant needs and those transitioning to Kindergarten in the following year.
Staff and Technology Enhancements: The transition in leadership back to London City Schools will bring improved staff credentials and technological upgrades to enhance the program’s quality.
Registration Details:
Families interested in enrolling their children in the district’s Preschool program for the 2025-2026 school year can Pre-register by completing this form. Parents will be invited to a screening. Current students will be accepted and will simply need to register for the next school year. Further updates on the district’s Preschool program will be shared through district communications later this spring.
