March POE Honoree Logan Pollock

In the Spring of 2019, the London City School District published its Portrait of a Graduate, which highlights the key skills and attitudes necessary for district graduates to have success in college and careers. Our district uses the Portrait of a Graduate to help design meaningful teaching and learning experiences for our students. In a similar way during the Spring of 2022, the London City School District worked to identify and publish the most valued skills and dispositions that educators should demonstrate daily to help prepare our students to be future-ready. These skills include:

  • Effective Communication,

  • Focused on Relationship-Building,

  • Being Flexible and Adaptable,

  • Demonstrating High Integrity; and,

  • Being a role model for Life-Long Learning.

Mr. Pollock was recognized during the March Regular Board of Education meeting for substantially demonstrating the district’s Portrait of an Educator. Congratulations Mr. Pollock!

Nominated by the Administration and Peers:

With great enthusiasm, LMS recognizes Logan Pollock for his exceptional contributions to London Middle School (LMS) and his unwavering dedication to science education. Logan exemplifies the qualities of an innovative and passionate educator, significantly impacting students, colleagues, and the school community.

Remarkably, Logan is only in his second year of teaching, yet his commitment to student learning and his drive to create meaningful experiences rival those of a seasoned educator. In his first year at LMS, Logan achieved the incredible honor of winning the Jason Learning Argonaut opportunity, a testament to his passion for STEM education and his ability to inspire students beyond the classroom. Now in his second year, he continues to step up in ways that highlight his dedication and leadership. Without hesitation, Logan transitioned from teaching 7th-grade science to 8th-grade science to fill a vacancy, demonstrating his adaptability and willingness to serve where he is needed most.

Beyond the classroom, Logan has been instrumental in expanding STEM opportunities for students. As the LMS Robotics Coach for the past two years, he has not only built enthusiasm for robotics but has also spearheaded LMS’s first-ever robotics competition, set to take place on March 8, 2025. His vision extends beyond this inaugural event, as he hopes to establish a county-wide robotics competition in the future, further elevating STEM education in the region.

Logan’s teaching is defined by engaging, hands-on experiences that challenge students to think critically and apply their knowledge in real-world contexts. Through projects like the Toy Design Challenge—which integrates energy transformations into an interactive learning experience—he fosters creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration. His work with students in modeling eclipses using accessible materials further reflects his ingenuity in making complex scientific concepts approachable and engaging. His impact has not gone unnoticed, as he has been featured multiple times in the LMS newsletter for his engaging classroom lessons that captivate and inspire students.

For someone so early in his career, Logan has already demonstrated an exceptional level of dedication, leadership, and innovation. He embodies what it means to be a lifelong learner, an inspiring educator, and a champion for STEM education. His contributions to LMS have already left a lasting impact, and his vision for the future will undoubtedly continue to shape student opportunities for years to come.
