Monster Art Work

The monster project began last year after LHS art students kept spotting the idea on social media—and it instantly sparked their interest. Several students mentioned how much they’d love to try it, so the project came to life!

LHS art students teamed up with elementary school art classes for this fun and imaginative collaboration. Last year, they partnered with three elementary classes, and they’re excited to be finishing up projects with three more classes this year.

It all starts with the elementary students, who are asked to draw and color their own unique monster designs. Then, LHS Ceramics students select one of the drawings to bring to life. They carefully sculpt, glaze, and decorate the monsters, transforming 2D drawings into 3D ceramic creations.

The project has been a huge hit—most of the LHS students absolutely love it! It’s not only a great hands-on experience but also a creative way to connect students across grade levels through art.
