Breaking News

Dear London Families,

Due to a sudden surge in staff-related absences, the London City School District will be closed this Thursday, January 13th, and Friday, January 14th. Classes will resume as scheduled after the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Tuesday, January 18th.

In order to continue to serve families, our Champions Child Care program will remain open on both Thursday and Friday this week. The bus to Tolles Career and Technical Center will leave LHS at 7:30 am and return by 3:10 pm each day. Students wanting transportation should arrange to meet at the high school prior to 7:30 am. Special Education students receiving services out of the district will still receive transportation to their designated placement as usual. Finally, families with students attending Saint Patrick’s are asked to email Mrs. Adams (kimberly.adams@london.k12.oh.us) to arrange transportation for Thursday and/or Friday.

Since district-related events are not impacted as much as other areas of district operations, all events are currently scheduled to continue as planned. Please watch district communications for any changes to these events.

Our district is committed to providing families an all-day, every-day, onsite educational experience and anticipates continuing classes in person next week. District families retain the ability to choose a hybrid or online learning option for their child by applying to the London Unlimited program. Any London family wishing to transition from in-person learning to London Unlimited may do so by completing this application as soon as possible.

Both canceled days this week will be treated as calamity days. Despite this being mid-January, our district has not needed to delay or cancel school once so far this year. Our district calamity plan indicates that during the first five calamity days, classes are simply canceled. Beginning on our sixth calamity day, classes each day would be made up through blended learning. This is similar to what we have done in the past and would avoid school days being added to the end of the school year. More information on this process would be communicated if this were to occur.

Thank you again for your support, patience, and understanding as we all work through these sometimes challenging times.

Best wishes,

Dr. Lou Kramer

District Superintendent
