Madison Health has long supported London City Schools and its athletic programs. Recently, Dr. Andrew Lawson joined Madison Health as a physician specializing in sports medicine. Dr. Lawson will assist the district’s athletic training team and completes a staff of physical therapists and other specialists, who can serve injured student-athletes in order to get them back on the playing field quickly. Dr. Lawson will attend home football games and select other events in order to provide a high level of onsite care to LCS student-athletes.
Beyond sports medicine, the district and the hospital partner in a variety of other ways. The proceeds from annual pink-out games held at LHS provide support to the hospital’s Mona Flax Breast Cancer Endowment Fund. In addition, Madison Health provides physicals for student-athletes each season. Finally, the hospital is currently fulfilling its second $100,000 pledge to help enhance Red Raider athletic programs. Paid over five years, the substantial donation has been used by the district to install field turf and large video boards at Bowlus Field and in Chadwell Gymnasium.
Earlier this week, the Madison Health Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy Departments met with district head coaches to discuss different ways to further the partnership. During this meeting, Madison Health presented London City Schools with a check for their continued support of the Red Raiders.
