On Thursday, December 1st, London City Schools welcomed University of Dayton graduate students from the Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training Program to London Middle School. The grad students, who are part of a 1.92 million dollar grant-funded program to address a shortage of mental health workers and improve the quality and access to mental health services in high-need and high demands areas, held a Mental Health Career Fair for 7th and 8th-grade students from the Tolles Career Connections classes, as well as the LHS Psychology classes, taught by Mr. Tim Coudret. London students moved between five tables where they were introduced to information about careers in Clinical Psychology, School Psychology, School Counseling, Psychiatry, and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Each station also had a hands-on activity facilitated by the grad students. The outreach program is the beginning of a four-year initiative. You can read more about the program here.
