The London Police Department and the London City School District are pleased to announce the appointment of Officer Eric Langham as the district’s first School Resource Officer. Officer Langham has been with the London Police Department for two years but has over six and half years of prior service with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
During the selection process, Officer Langham stated he was looking forward to building relationships with students, parents, staff, and families involved with the school. He views his role first and foremost as helping students overcome obstacles and looks forward to helping to add to the district’s safety protocols. Officer Langham believes his background in mental health, experience mentoring school-aged students as part of the explorer's program, and cross-training with the fire department are all assets that will help his success.
The School Resource Officer position was an established priority of the Board of Education this year as another strategy to enhance the district’s safety plan. The goals of the program include working to enhance district safety measures, fostering a positive school culture, and providing another resource for assistance with behavioral health. Officer Langham will begin his new role on January 9th, 2023.
