LHS Senior Removes Outdated TVs

When LHS senior Andrew Dunkley began planning his Eagle Scout Project, he found inspiration close to home. While visiting his mom’s 4th-grade classroom, he noticed an obsolete CRT TV gathering dust in the corner. These outdated devices, long replaced by SmartBoards and LED monitors, had been left in classrooms because their bulky nature made removal difficult and a low priority for the district.

Determined to help, Andrew took the initiative to organize a team of volunteers over the summer, successfully removing 51 CRT TVs from the school. The removal was just the first step. Now, Andrew is focused on the next phase: raising funds to recycle the TVs responsibly. He estimates that recycling costs will total around $3,000.

Those interested in supporting Andrew’s project can contribute through his gofundme. All proceeds will go toward the recycling effort, with any remaining funds donated to LES.
