POE Mr. Tim Coudret

In the Spring of 2019, the London City School District published its Portrait of a Graduate, which highlights the key skills and attitudes necessary for district graduates to have success in college and careers. Our district uses the Portrait of a Graduate to help design meaningful teaching and learning experiences for our students. In a similar way during the Spring of 2022, the London City School District worked to identify and publish the most valued skills and dispositions that educators should demonstrate daily to help prepare our students to be future-ready. These skills include:

  • Effective Communication,

  • Focused on Relationship-Building,

  • Being Flexible and Adaptable,

  • Demonstrating High Integrity; and,

  • Being a role model for Life-Long Learning.

Mr. Tim Coudret was recognized during the September Regular Board of Education meeting for substantially demonstrating the district’s Portrait of an Educator. Congratulations Mr. Coudret!

Mr. Coudret is literally a poster boy for this honor as he is one of four teachers pictured on the district’s Portrait of an Educator graphic. It is appropriate therefore that Mr. Coudret, an innovative and student-centered teacher, is being recognized this month. He is a model teacher who teaches more than just content but also shows how practices connect with life.

  1. Student-Centered Approach: Tim Coudret advocates for creating an environment where students feel valued, supported, and heard. He focuses on building strong relationships with students to foster a safe and engaging learning environment.

  2. Innovative Instruction: He encourages the use of creative and diverse instructional strategies that cater to various learning styles. This might include integrating technology, project-based learning, and hands-on activities to enhance student engagement.

  3. Growth Mindset: Coudret promotes the importance of developing a growth mindset, both for educators and students. He believes that learning is a continuous journey, and that embracing challenges and failures is key to personal and academic growth.

  4. Reflective Practice: He stresses the importance of self-reflection for educators. Continuous self-assessment allows teachers to refine their practices, improve student outcomes, and adapt to changing classroom dynamics.

  5. Leadership and Collaboration: Coudret values collaboration with colleagues and sees leadership as a shared responsibility. He believes in working with fellow educators to create a community of learning and support.

Mr. Coudret's peers had the following to say about him:

  • Tim is a consummate professional whom I am glad to have as a colleague. As social studies department chair, he's a great communicator, making sure his department gets the information they need and also making sure the administration is aware of their questions or needs. At least partially due to his flexibility and adaptability, he seems to effortlessly build relationships with all kinds of students, which allows him to be an excellent role model for them. His integrity is beyond reproach and adds another layer to what makes him so important and such a meaningful person for so many students.

  • Tim Coudret is the most appropriate person I can think of to be recognized as this month's Portrait of an Educator. Tim holds his students to high standards and pushes them to improve themselves daily. He instills confidence and prioritizes life-long learning within his classroom. Tim treats all his students with care. London's diverse set of scholars feel this and reward him with trust. Many rise up to earn the respect he shows them automatically. His classroom focuses on real-world applications of learning, history, government, and psychology. Tim is a leader and a beacon for other teachers within our district and is a pillar within London's community, spending his time outside of the classroom coaching, mentoring, and volunteering. Thanks for being you, Mr. Coudret.

  • Tim is an advocate for his students and will do whatever he can to help them. He always keeps his door open for students, helping them with their needs in and out of the classroom

These recommendations reflect Tim Coudret’s vision of what makes an educator impactful and successful, focusing on relationships, innovation, and continuous improvement.
