It is Homecoming week at London High School and the school has already gotten into the festive spirit with a different themed day this week. As the weekend approaches, the celebration ramps up. Students, parents, graduates, and community members are welcome “home” to London High School this week and are encouraged to help celebrate London High School’s 87th annual Homecoming by participating in these events.
Thursday, October 10th
During the school day, the Homecoming Court will be recognized during the annual Homecoming Pep Rally in front of the student body. Parents of students on the court are invited to attend, but this event is otherwise closed to the public.
Like last year, the annual Homecoming parade has been moved to Thursday this year so more of our student-athletes can participate. Lineup for the parade will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Garfield Avenue entrance of the Fairgrounds. The parade will kick off at 6 p.m. and travel east on Garfield Avenue, then north on Elm Street to Bowlus Field. A community pep rally will take place immediately after the parade to recognize all Fall athletes. Several food trucks will be on hand to help celebrate the event.
Friday, October 11th
Friday evening, the FFA will hold its annual Pork Loin Dinner from 5-7 p.m. in the Ag Shop. Meals are $8 per person and $7 for Senior Citizens and include a Pork Loin Sandwich, Cheesy Potatoes, Applesauce, Cookie, and Drink. Drive-thru pick-up is available.
Immediately before the Football Game, at approximately 6:40 p.m., the Homecoming Court will take their customary drive around the track as they are announced in front of the crowd at the J.J. Hartley Complex. LHS is proud to welcome back LHS 2023 Homecoming Queen, Molly Weese, who will crown this year’s winner.
Just after the crowning of this year’s queen, Seniors Lily Patterson, and David Castillo will make the traditional “Running of the L” across Bowlus Field to light the L.
Saturday, October 12th
The annual Homecoming Dance will take place on Saturday evening from 7 - 10 p.m. at the high school. This event is limited to ticketed LHS students and their pre-approved guests.
