Substitute Training Picture

London City Schools has developed and recently launched a Substitute Essentials course designed to prepare candidates for substitute teaching opportunities within the district.

Earlier this school year the Board of Education approved a resolution allowing individuals without a Bachelor's Degree to serve as substitute teachers under specific conditions. To qualify, non-Bachelor Degree candidates must:

  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Participate in a formal interview and selection process.

  • Complete a district-approved substitute orientation training to fulfill the educational requirement.

While an Associate’s Degree or two years of post-secondary coursework is preferred, it is not required.

Individuals who meet these qualifications or possess a Bachelor's Degree and are interested in substitute teaching for the district are encouraged to contact the Central Office for more information.
